Tonight we are going to look at last year and the coming year
We are going to start off by thinking back over the last year
What were the good parts of the last year?
Is there one think that stands out for you?
What were the bad / sad things from last year?
What have you learnt from these experiences?
Lets think about our relationships with God
Are there anything you need to put right at the beginning of this year?
What are they?
Take some flash paper and write them down...
We are now going to pray and set the paper alight...make sure you throw it
in the air!
Read 1 John 1:9 "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins
and purify us from all unrighteousness"
Part 2 (the future)
So now we are going to think about the year ahead...
We are all facing different things this year, ie, exams, moving on etc.
Read Romans 12:1-2 "So brothers and sisters, since God has shown us great mercy, I beg
you to offer your lives as a living sacrifice to him. Your
offering must be only for God and pleasing to him, which is the spiritual way
for you to worship. Do not change yourself to be like the people
of this world, but be changed within by a new way of thinking.
Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is
good and pleasing to him and what is perfect"
What do you think this means?
living God's way pleases God...God sees this as worship
he wants us to live differently
he wants us to keep our mind on him
we will then see his plan for us when we are walking his path
So what do you want to achieve this year?
Take a piece of paper and fold it into four...head each section: Personal, Spiritual, Academic,
Work & other
Now write down what you want to achieve in the sections for the year ahead
When you have finished, place the paper in an envelope and seal it...put
your name on the front...I will give them back to you in July so you can see
how you are doing
I'm going to finish by reading Jeremiah 29:11 "I say this because I know what I am planning for you', says the Lord.
'I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you
hope and a good future"
