Matthew 11: "Come to me all you who are tired and have heavy loads and I will give
you rest"
Tonight we are going to talk about something I'm very good at:
Screwing up
Doing things wrong
Is anybody else really good at that?
Personally, my problem is that I need to learn how to keep my gob shut!
I don't know about you, but it seems to come natural to me
Now if you we to read a Bible you would find that it has a lot of lot of things to say
about this stuff and that is what I want us the think about tonight
Does everybody like The Simpsons?
I thought we would start by watching a episode where Bart messes up bit time
Video: Bart gets an F (Simpsons Greatest Hits)
Middle bit
I suspect that all of us have had times when we, like Bart, have failed.
Maybe not like he did at school
Maybe it was at home
Or we messed up friendship
Or upset someone
Let someone down
Let yourself down, which sometimes is worse
When these things happen it can mess with your head
What was Bart like when he failed?
No good
A looser
Worthless
We have probably all felt like that at times
But the good thing is that even when we feel like that / when we have messed
up .The Bible tells us God is always there for us
Matthew 7:7
"Ask, and God will give to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door
will open for you. Yes, everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches
will find. And everyone who knocks will have the door opened"
1 John 8
"If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in
us. But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust
God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.
If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and we do not accept God's
teaching."
End bit
Who ever we are, what ever we have done, God is always there for us
Because he cares for each and every one of us
With God we always get a second chance .here's a story from the Bible
Matthew 18: 21 "Lord,
when my fellow believer sins against me, how many times must I forgive him? Should I
forgive him ask many as seven times? Jesus answered, "I tell you, you must
forgive him more than seven times. You must forgive him even if he does wrong
to you 77 times."
That's how God treats us...he always forgives
