Tonight I though we would spend a bit of time thinking about one of the things that can
make the difference between us been happy people and sad people and that one thing is
decisions
Through out everyday we make hundreds of little decisions, some of them don't matter but
some of will change the course of our lives.
Let's see if that's true.
Here a list of different decisions, in groups put them in order of importance:
What to wear when you go out
What football team to support
How much time to spend on your homework
Whether to get off with that girl / boy
Whether to start smoking
Whether to get married
What to eat for breakfast
Whether to go to the cinema or ice-skating on the weekend
Whether to do drugs
Whether to talk about your friends behind their back's
Whether to lie about the homework you haven't done
Whether to cheat in an exam
Whether to hug and kiss your brother / sister / those you "love"
Whether to follow God
Whether to get drunk
[Comment on the order]
To help us think about this further I though it might be an idea if you did some drama -
pick one of the decisions (from the list above) and try put something together.
If you don't want to do that, you can make a banner...Psalm 37:5 "Depend on the
Lord;' trust him, and he will take care of you."
Middle bit
[Perform drama]
So there are some things that are important, and some things that are not
Some decisions will change the direction of our lives
So when we are faced with these difficult situations, what do we do?
Weight up the pros and cons
What feels right?
Toss a coin
There are many other things we could do
However, I believe there is one thing we should also think about what God wants us to
do...
It may not always be obvious, but that's why God gave us this book [the Bible]
So that if we study it, we might know what some of the answers to some of the tricky
questions we will face in our lives
So you can go and read it and see for yourselves what God has to say to you through the
Bible
End bit
Here's one bit from Matthew 7v7 7v8 that reminds us of just that "Ask, and
God will give to you. Search and you will find. Knock, and the door will open for you.
Yes, everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches will find. And everyone who
knocks will have the door opened"
In this book [the Bible] you will find the answers to many of the big
questions...ranging from:
